Like many countries around the world, New Zealand has laws restricting the sending of email messages to recipients that have not given permission to receive them. Unsolicited email, commonly referred to as spam, is illegal in New Zealand.

However there are instances where it is quite permissible to send out emails:

  • If you have a bona fide and legitimate commercial relationship with the recipient
