Could most of the pages include other sites that are linked to the original site, as well as blogs? It seems an incredible number of pages and who would read them all, let alone wait for them to download. I wonder if it is online encyclopaedias and dictionaries and other reference works that are indicated. They would attract a steady traffic flow anyway, which might tilt the statistics?

Your indexed pages have to be part of your own site and would exclude any pages from external sites or blogs. Remember that the indexed pages are most likely not visible at the top level of navigation and the portfolio of pages will probably not be read by everyone. Through organic search, people will find pages related to their search term. An active blogger creating 3 posts per week would have built up over 150 pages (posts) each year. Multiply this by a few years and it's easy to see how you can create a large volume of indexabale content. Our site has around 200 pages but it's not obvious to the casual visitor.

Hope this helps to explain this article.

Thank you for taking the time to explain that point so clearly. It does make sense now.
    Kind regards, Sandra
